Overall, there was a slight decline in the percentage of men and women in the four countries over the given period.To draw attention to women in Belgium, there was a significant decrease compared to other countries.
To begin with the men who were employed in the four countries, the USA had the largest percentage of men employed, accounting for about 85%. However, this percentage went down in 2000, dropping to around 78%. According to Japan, it was made up 75% of men who were employed in the beginning, it experienced a dramatic fall to 51% after three decades. The employment rate in Belgium and Indonesia was 78% and 83% in 1970, respectively. In 2000, the former one had noticeably reduced as similar as Japan (51%), the latter one gradually shrank to 71%.
Turning to the women who were employed in 1970, Belgium’s proportion was almost equal to Indonesia’s (63%), which, in turn, considerably diminished to 8%, while Indonesia underwent a marginal dip to 50%. The USA had the most employed among other countries in 1970 (78%), but thereafter dropped to 40% in 2000, while Japan was the opposite of it and attracting approximately 54%. In 2000, it decreased by 6%.
