Overall, it can be seen that those who suffered from being unemployed occupied the least in the chart in 3 years while the data for students who were employed dominated in 1990 and 2000. The percentage of students who have a job experience an upward trend, compared to the downward trend of further education.
In 1980, the rate of employed students occupied about 40%, being the second common choice for school leavers. Ten years later, the proportion of students going to work increased 10% more than that in 1980, occupying half the number of school leavers that time. In 2000, the data for students with a job rose to 55%, remaining the highest position from 1990 to the end of the surveyed period.
In contrast, school leavers who chose to have further education witnessed a decrease. In 1980, the percentage of students choosing to go to high school was dominated by 50%, taking the highest position. After that, the proportion fell to 38% and 37% in 1990 and 2000 respectively. The rate for unemployed students fluctuated between 8% to 12% throughout the period.
