Overall, drastic changes can be seen between 2004 and 2009. In 2004, more than half of the commuters (51%) preferred to ride the car and a third used the bus. A handful of people use their bikes and the train while travelling, only 9% and 3% respectively. The least used mode of transportation is walking with only 3% of the portion.
In 2009, goers shifted their main preference to utilizing the bus as the data increased up to 46%, ranking it first among all of the other vehicles. The use of automobile plunged down to 28% which is almost half of its previous record. The portion of using bicycle increased significantly by 16%. In contrast, the volume of people using the train and people who walked had minimal rise.
In conclusion, more people utilized public transportation and other sustainable options as mean to get to their destinations. Though cars are still heavily used, the creation of bus stops and the establishment car parking charges may have an impacted on the decline of its usage.
