Overall, there was a decline in the proportion of first science degree and first arts degree, while an opposite trend can be seen in the percentage of Phd arts degree, Phd science degree and master arts degree. In addition, the figures for master science degree consistently maintained the most sustainable proportion of graduates and also remained unchanged throughout the entire period.
The proportion of first science degree started at 25%, after which it saw a drop to 11% in 2008. A similar change, but to a much greater extent, can be seen in the figures for first arts degree, which decreased from 20% in 1998 to 10% in 2008. Notably, the percentage of master science degree accounted for 29% in both years, exceeding other categories.
Only 2% of graduates had a PhD arts degree in 1998, with a slight increase to 7% in 2008. The figures for PhD science degree and master arts degree witnessed a similar trend , with the former increased significantly from 13% to 30% and the later rose steadily from 11% to 13%.
