The pie chart illustrates the sales of new cars categorized by their brands in Australia in April between 1994, 2004, and 2014.
Overall, it is clear that there was an increase in the sales of the SUV and other brands, contributing to the rise in the entire sales in Australia. In addition, Saloon consistently had the highest proportion throughout the period examined even though experiencing a downward trend, and the largest growth was seen in the figures for SUV
In April 1994, 42000 cars were sold from all brands, followed by a significant rise to 48000 in the next ten years. The figure continued to rise by 4000 cars, leveling up the entire sale to 52000 in 2014.
In the first year, 315000 cars were sold by SUV, contributing three out of four of the total sales, after which it decreased significantly by 20%, ending at 286,000 in 2014. However, despite this decline, the SUV still remained the dominant car brand in Australia. In contrast, 19% (7980 units) of car sales came from other brands in 1994, with a subsequent slight increase to 21% (10920 units) by 2014. The figure for the Saloon experienced similar trends, but to a much greater extent, growing nearly three times from 2520 (9%) in 1994 to 6720 (14%) in 2004, followed by a dramatic rise of 10% to 12480 cars at the end of the period.
