Overall, air pollution was caused by electricity generation, industry and mainly transport. In addition, China air pollution by far was the most severe among America, Japan and Australia because all three categories reached a peak in China.

Air pollution in China was mainly caused by manufacturing with 80 ppm, but means of transport and generating electricity also significantly contribute to the low air quality of this country. Similarly, industry affected Japan air quality the most, came second was transportation and electricity generation lag behind. However, the rate of pollutant in the atmosphere in Japan was much lower than in China.

Whereas industry took the lead in countries that have been mentioned, in America, mode of transport is second to none. In Australia, the air pollution levels reached a plateau when electricity generation, which had the highest level of pollution, was only 19 ppm.
