The line graph illustrates the differences and alterations in three main areas of crime in Panama City during the time period from 2010 to 2019. Overall, one can see that despite the fact that burglary saw a dramatic decline in number of crimes, car theft and robbery experienced no significant fluctuations over a 9-year period
Regarding burglary, the chart provides that after a moderate rise from less than 3500 incidents in 2010 to around 3700 in 2011, the crime rate started a drastic drop which lasted up to 2015 and resulted in only 1000 burglaries being committed this year. Even after another gradual increase in 2016 followed by a relative 3-year stability, the amount of these illegal actions performed became much less.
Car theft follows a slightly opposite trend. From 2010 to 2012, statistic for this type of crime was a bit lower than for burglary, and in 2013 the line saw a marginal drop from around 2700 to 2000 cases. Nevertheless, an overall growth in incidents rates from 2014 to 2019, with a notable peak in 2017, results in the overall number of crimes committed staying similar.
As the chart shows, robbery was the less frequent type of breaking the law in Panama City, and even despite the slight fluctuations and dipping to 500 cases 2015, the overall variation experienced no noticeable change over the years.
To summarise, burglary which was the most common crime in Panama City reduced considerably, while car theft rote remarkably becoming the new dominant lawbreaking, while robbery sees almost no change throughout the 9 years.
