Overall, fishing is the only sport in which participants outnumber spectators, whereas all other sports attracts more people who prefer to watch rather than actually be involve in, especially football.
On the one hand, in terms of watching sports, while males who watch football games account for the largest share at 40%, those who like watching fishing on TV only make up around 12%. Apart from that, the proportions of males who watch basketball and horse riding and racing are almost the same at about 36%, followed by rugby and badminton, which both occupy 28%.
On the other hand, regarding males who engage in sports, fishing has the highest participation rate at 50%, while football records the lowest figure, at slightly over 10%. Males who prefer playing basketball and badminton both account for about 25%. Similarly, the percentages of rugby and horse riding and racing are the same, at 20%.
