The following column graph compares the percentage of men in a given nation who tended to favor watching sports over participating in them, and vise versa.
Overall, it is apparent from the chart that there are varying levels of engagement across sports categories. However, the number of spectators mostly surpassed the proportion of men who participated in the sports, with an exception of horse riding and racing.
Football stands out as being the most popular sport among the male residents who watched, accounting for almost 45%, while only 10% of them actually played it. Rugby, on the other hand, was similarly popular among males who watched it and those who took part in it, with the former slightly exceeding the latter.
Likewise, basketball showed comparable participation and spectatorship among the males, reaching 37.5% and 25%, respectively. The similar trend could be seen in badminton, with the respective figures standing at a slightly over 25% of watchers and 25% of participators.
In terms of fishing, there is a significant discrepancy between the two groups. The men who actively engaged in the activity accounted for threefold of the males who watched the process. Conversely, when it comes to horse riding and racing, the men mostly preferred spectating the sport.
