The bar chart illustrates the proportion of changes in using transport for commuters in four different cities in Europe between 2015 and 2025.
Overall, it is clear that the highest usage in 2020 and 2025 was of public transport,the lowest usage in that period was of walking.
In addition the use of public transport showed a gradual increase from about 35% at the start of the period to around 42% in 2020; at the end of the period, the figure increased to about 48%. However, the figure for private car use experienced a rapid decrease from 40% in 2015 to 30% in 2020, ending with 18% in 2025 compared to previous years.
In contrast, the data of people employing bicycles saw a slight growth from about 15% at the start to around 18% in the middle of the period, and then to about 24% in 2025. As well, walking remained stable throughout the period.
