The illustration describes the way a farmer in the UK grows wheat crop in typical year. There are seven steps to plant wheat which is start in the autumn, around September and October. This essay will discuss about that seven stages starting from preparing the field to harvesting the crop.

First of all, the field is ploughed. It is only after this stage that the fertilizer is spread. Then, the seed is sown in the field. After that, in order to prevent the crops being damaged, the weeds are sprayed with weedkiller in the spring. It is around March and April. At the same time, insecticide is sprayed on the crop. So as to encourage strong growth.

After weeds and insecticide is sprayed, the wheat is harvested using a combine harvester. The last stage in the cycle, in the summer, usually in August, the crop is processed to sell or to store.
