The two diagrams compare the structures of two tunnels which were built in different times.
Overall, due to size, lengths and depth the second one has dominance, that was built later than first one. However the first tunnel took longer time despite smaller measures in body. Also, the first one had been built under the water compared to the second which was built under the ground of road and spent lower amount of money to construct.
The first map of the tunnel—Tunnel A—had been constructed between 1987 and 1992 and during the five years overall $556 million was spent to the construction. There were two opposite directions of transports to go two different sides of the water place which were far from each other 2.2 kilometers, and included only two lines of cars and tracks on each direction. The tunnel divided with water through the mixture of stones and sand, the deepest pion was located 25 meters inside of the earth. Moreover, boats and water transports can use through the water and one bridge was located between the two sides of the water.
In contrast the building of Tunnel B had been started after 12 years later, from this year (2004) this tunnel was building by 2007 under the ground, and maximum deep point of this tunnel was longer 10 meters than the previous one and 1.4 kilometers longer. Furthemore, this more modern tunnel was constructed over just three years, with $1.1 billion expenditure. Additionally, this construction included two car ways and one tracks direction throughout both two directions.
