The line chart illustrates the number of parcels delivered by two leading major services, FedEx and TNT, from the period time 1920 to 2000.
Overall, the value of FedEx and TNT both rose in the first 20 years. While the quantity of parcels organized by TNT rose steadily, FedEx’s figures fluctuated over the period.
For FedEx company, in 1920, the number of parcels stood at 15000 and then reached a peak of approximately 25000 by 1940. Nevertheless, the figure dramatically halved to about 12000 in 1950 and hit a bottom of over 11000 before rising gradually to about 17000 and 19000 in 1970, 1980 respectively. It mainted stable for 10 years later before decreasing slightly to almost 18000 in 2000.
On the other hand, the number of packages carried by TNT was little over 5,000, three times lower than FedEx, in 1920; howerver, over the next 50 years, it gradually increased to over 12000 in 1960. The number remained relatively stable after 2 decades, though there were some minimal fluctuations. Following this, there was an abrupt rise to over 22000 parcels sent, double the figure from 1980 and hit the highest point of nearly 25000 in the final year.
