The diagram illustrates the information about the Hawaiian Island chain at the Pacific Ocean’s heart.
Overall, the island formation began with an eruption process 2883 km below the ocean and ended with the formation of a developed volcano built up by numerous eruptions.
The whole process begins with the underwater eruption, followed by the formation of the youngest volcano development which is built up by numerous eruptions of the magma spume. These minor eruptions formed as a young volcano that will later shift the Pacific tectonic above the solid dense rock with an average increment of 7-9 cm per year until the Hawaiian island chain is visible on the sea surface.
The island formation goes on untill it naturally stops from growing. Fun fact about Hawaii island is that it is actually the oldest volcano aging 80 million years back and is also the largest among the major islands followed by other islands including Maui, Kauai and Oahu. There is also few small major islands as a result of this island formation process which are Niihau, Lanai and Kahoolawe.
