The diagram depicts the construction of simple water filter and its purpose to produce clean drinking water.
The material that we need to assemble it are two plastic barrel with lid, sand, charcoal, gravel, hose of pipe, and faucet. The process of filtering the water start with pouring the water that we want to filter into above storage drum and ends with clean water.
First, we look at the filter construction. The filter made of layer of three kind of material such as sand, charcoal and gravel that fill the above storage drum and we have storage drum to gather clean drinking water. Both of the drum is two separated plastic barrel that connected through pipe. Both of them have a lid to close the barrel. On the side of storage barrel, we attached one faucet to stream the clean water to a glass.
Next, we observe how it’s working to filter water to make a drinking water. After the water poured into the above storage tank, it first have to go through sand layer. below the sand layer, the water going through charcoal layer and then gravel layer. When the water finally going through gravel, the water is considered clean and then flowing to the storage drum through some kind of pipe or hose. Lastly the water that collected inside the storage drum can be streamed through faucet if we want to drink it.
