Overall, ethanol is made from plants by a series of steps which are mainly chemical as plants are converted into cellulose and then to sugars. After that, some bioprocessing is made and that is why ethanol is a type of a larger group called biofuels.
Regarding the first half of the process, some seeds are planted, and they use sunlight and carbon dioxide to extract the essential energy to grow. After plants get ready, they are harvested by mainly some trucks before undergoing the post-processing step by a machine to have a product called “cellulose”.
Turning to the second half of the process, cellulose is processed to be turned into sugars, after which biospecialists add some microbes to eventually have ethanol. Moreover, the process seems to be a cycle because ethanol is used as a fuel in all sorts of transport, like cars and planes, which release carbon dioxide that is used in the first step of the process.
