The image illustrates the process of producing leather goods. Overall, the whole process entails three distinct stages, starting with the preparation of raw material, followed by industrial process, finishing with human use of ready products. Additionally, this process requires more machinery and minimal human intervention.
In the initial phase of the entire process, animal hides are dried in order to remove excess moisture by means of a heating machine, after which moisture-free skins are transported to the factories. Once at the factory, the hides are put in a tank filled with limed water in an attempt to loosen the hair and soften the hide, preparing it for the next stage. Upon the completion of this step, another soaking treatment takes place, by eliminating impurities and blood.
Subsequently, the cleaned hides are flattered using a special device, facilitating cutting and further processing. The skins are once again subjected to soaking in a water containing vegetable matter to make the leather more durable and flexible. As a subsequent step of industrial procedure, the leather is polished so as to smooth the surface of the tanned hide. At the final stage, the leather is delivered to the manufacturing plants to be used in clothing production.
