The picture depicts the process of extracting essential oil for perfume production. Overall, there are three main stages, comprising evaporation, condensation and separation.
The initial step involves the vaporization, where water is heated to generate steam. This steam is then transferred to a larger chamber/ tank containing aromatic plants to elevate the temperature of those raw materials, thereby facilitating the release of oil. Following this, the mixture of steam and oil vapor is collected.
Next comes the liquefaction phase in which the steam-oil combination passes through a spiral condenser, situated in a tank filled with both hot and cold water. This cooling mechanism enables the steam to condense back into liquid form, resulting in a combined mixture of water and essential oil.
Once this concoction is formed, can the two components be filtered via a separator, allowing the essential oil to be extracted, whereas the hydrolat, also known as aromatic water, is collected through an outlet tube for various future applications.
