A glance at the diagram provided reveals the data of the average hours of unpaid activities in a week done by married men and women in different categories.
As per the diagram, it is apparent that there are three categories are divided – first with zero children, second with 1-2 children and last with 3+ children. Men do less free work than women in every categories. Married women with zero child spend 30 hours on these activities such as childcare in the home, housework, and gardening. Whereas, men spend around 18 hours of their week on these responsible activities. On the other hand, the responsibility of mother of 1-2 children has been increased, they do unpaid work above 50 hours per week, whereas, for men, average time remains same. Moreover, those women who have 3+ children spend 60 hourse per week on these tasks. However, men with 3+ children do only 16-17 hours in a week.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is clear that married women with 3+ children are spending their most of the time (60 hours per week) on these housework responsibilities, in contrast, men are spending only around 17 hours every week.
