The chart gives the information about the average hours per week spent on unpaid activities by married women and married men across three categories.
Overall, it is immediately apparent that married women do more unpaid work than married men in every category. Additionally, the time spent on unpaid labor by women significantly increases with the number of children, while the hours for men remain relatively steady.
Looking firstly at married women, those without children dedicated about 30 hours per week to unpaid work. This figure rose significantly for mothers with 1-2 children, reaching approximately 50 hours per week. The number peaked for mothers with 3 or more children, who spent an average of around 60 hours per week on unpaid tasks.
Turning to married men, their contribution to unpaid work was not only much lower than that of women but also decreased slightly as the number of children increased. Men without children performed around 18 hours of unpaid work weekly. This figure dropped by 1 hour in each category, with fathers of 3 or more children having the lowest figure on the chart (around 16 hours).
