The pictures compare the fishing village before and after its transformation into a significant tourist spot in years 1974 and 2004. Overall, the population of the village boomed, as numerous hotels were established. The harbour was replaced by beach, shifting the main income source of locals from fishing to a profit from tourist attraction which influenced the rest of the territory.
In 1974, the region positioned three villages, one of them particularly focusing on fishing, with the bottom side of it containing a harbour and a few fishing boats. The Western side of the area was occupied by the woodland and some olives were cultivated nearby. Remaining settlements were situated in more remoted parts of the region along with grazing area for livestock.
However, by 2004, most of the features of village have been completely destroyed or undergone major reconstruction. The primary fishing village remained in its position, although the harbour was eliminated. The rest of free space was allocated to the establishment of touristic accommodations and the seashore was used to introduce two beaches. Olive plantations were replaced by farmland where fruits and vegetables were cultivated specifically for tourists, while the woodland was transformed into a golf court. The western village did not experience considerable modifications, although some tourist shopping zones were incorporated. In contrast, the eastern village remained almost intact, with only a road running from the tourists housing to the village, enhancing connectivity.
