The given diagram illustrates the infrastructural scheme of a public library 20 years ago and contemporarily.
Overall, apart from the location of the entrance, the floor plan of the public library has changed entirely. It can be observed that different sections of books have been rearranged, and many of the previously existing objects from the library have been removed.
Twenty years ago, the children’s books section was situated at the top left of the library, which has been isolated to a subsection – children’s fiction books – and integrated with the new area where storytelling events take place on the top right. The adult fiction books section is replaced with the adult non-fiction books section, below which the information desk and self-service machines have been added. The rest of the book categories have been sorted in the all reference books section in the left.
The tables and chairs which were placed in the middle previously have been removed. Moreover, the reading room is converted to the computer room and the children’s books area is transformed into a lecture room. Furthermore, a new café has been built in the bottom left of the library, where the enquiry desk was located before.
