The floor maps given here shows the changes in the plan of a floor in a public library from twenty years ago and now. Overall, while the architectural aspects have not changed drastically, the equipment available has increased. The public library today has digitised services such as self service machines and computer rooms. There are separate spaces for lectures as compared to twenty years ago, this might be a reflection of changing tastes of the people using the library now.
In the first floor map as one entered the floor, they could see the reading room to their left, CDs and video games and children’s books in the front, and an enquiry room to their right.Furthermore, the hallway had adult fiction books and tables and chairs to read.
In the second floor plan, the reading room has been converted to a computer room and there is a designated room for storytelling with sofas. The new floor plan also harbors a lecture room along with a section on reference books to the left . The enquiry room has been reconstructed to be a cafe whereas self service machines and an information desk in the main hallway serve the same purpose of enquiring about tickets, books, returns etc.
