From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the town center has become significantly more urbanized and modernized, featuring expanded accessibility and commerical amenities alongside enhanced residential sectors. These enhancements occurred at the expense of several vehicle roads, a variety of small local markets and individual houses, while the original public amenities in the grid-layout area were left largely unchanged.
In terms of acces, the town center has improved notably over the last 36 years. Smith Street, previously used by vehicles in 1990, has become a pedestrianized area, and Green Street and Oldfield Street were fitted with pedestrian crossings to enhance accessibility, while Newton Street remained unaltered.
When it comes to commerce, a variety of small local markets on the northern side of the town, adjacent to a childcare center, were converted into a large shopping mall, while a bank on the eastern edge was replaced by a cafe.
Regarding residential alterations, the individual houses on the southern part of Green Street and Oldfield Street were substituted by new apartment blocks, whereas community buildings such as the park, library, town hall and childcare center, remained mainly untouched.
