The presented maps give information about how a town center has changed since 1990.
Overall, the town has witnessed significant improvements, including the addition of modern amenities and housing. Notably, the town has become more pedestrian-friendly, thanks to the introduction of some new walking areas.
Looking first at the south side of the town, houses situated on Green Street have been converted into apartments to meet the demands of the increasing population. Meanwhile, the bank lying on the corner of Green Street and Oldfield Street has been removed to pave the way for a new coffee shop.
Regarding the remaining areas, the park, the library, and the town hall, surrounded by the four major roads of the city, have remained unchanged. Similarly, the bank and the childcare centre on the corner of Smith Street and Oldfield Street have not been subject to any change. In contrast, the cluster of small local shops lying next to the childcare center has been merged into a large shopping mall. Finally, Smith Street, which used be the busiest road for cars in 1990, has been repurposed into a walking street, along with the introduction of some pedestrian crossings on Green Street and Oldfield Street.
