The maps illustrate the changes in a town centre in 1990 and today. Overall, the town centre has become more accessible with new crosswalks and pathway, more commercial with shopping mall and cafe, and residential with apartment blocks. The changes took place at the expense of houses and local shops. The childcare centre, park, library, town hall, and the bank in the corner of the north-east side of the town remained unchanged.
In 1990, in the town centre, there were no street signs and pathway for pedestrians, but now there are two crosswalks, one in Green Street and another in Oldfield Street, and pathway in Smith Street, which is safe for people.
In Smith Street, there were a variety of local shops, including newsagent’s, grocer’s, baker’s, butcher’s, and cafe near a childcare centr. Today, these shops have been replaced by a big shopping mall. Other big change include the changes in houses which are located south part of town at the bottom of the map, they have been changed into apartment blocks.
There were two banks opposite to each other, the one in the corner of the town in the north-east left unchanged; however, the second one on the east side has been changed into a cafe. The park, library, town hall in the city centre and childcare centre were left untouched.
