The graphic illustrates the life cycle of female mosquitoes in several stages.
Overall, the life process of female mosquitoes depends on four major stages: egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages, which take around 7 to 8 weeks. It begins with the female mosquito laying a couple of oval eggs once a week, somewhere around dirty water or a water site. The eggs hatch into the first larval stage after a week. Consequently, the first larval stage develops into the second, then the third, and then the fourth larval stages, which take approximately 3, 4, and 5 weeks, respectively.
At week 6, the fourth larval stage evolves into the pupal stage. During this phase, the internal and external body parts are developed, with the growth of wings. In the 7th and 8th weeks, the young female mosquito is fully matured and ready to fly. After a week, the same process is repeated for the life process.
