The diagram illustrates the production of sugar from sugar cane.
Overall, production of sugar consists of seven distinct steps, starting from cultivating sugar canes and ending with drying, cooling and packing of sugar.
Initially, sugar canes are cultivated over a period of 12 to 18 months until it reaches maturity for processing. The sugar canes are harvested either manually by workers or mechanically by using a harvesting machine. Then harvested sugar canes are fed into a crushing machine, where it is pressed until extract the juice.
After that, extracted juice undergoes purification through the limestone filter to remove impurities. Thereafter, the purified juice is transferred into evaporator that supplies heat continuously until water evaporates. During the evaporation, the juice turns into syrup that suitable for next step.
Subsequently, the syrup is placed in a centrifuge which rotates in high speed to dissociate sugar crystals from syrup. Finally, sugar crystals are dried and cooled before the storing in containers.
