The diagram illustrates the cyclical manufacturing process of sugar production from sugar cane.
Overall, this sugar manufacturing process include several key steps, starting with growing and harvesting of sugar cane plants, followed by processing steps such as crushing, purification, evaporation and centrifuging, and finally making of sugar crystals by drying and cooling.
As pre-processing steps, after 12 – 18 months of planting, sugar cane plants are harvesting either by manually or by tractors.
Following pre-processing, the harvested sugar cane sticks are crushing by using machines to produce sugarcane juice as a starting of processing steps of sugar production. Thereafter, sugar cane juice is purifying by limestone filter to produce pure sugarcane juice. The filtered juice, then evaporate until sugarcane juice become syrup. This evaporation step is given a concentrated sugar syrup. Subsequently, sugar syrup undergoes centrifuging step which separate sugar crystals from the syrup.
Finally, centrifuged sugar syrup was dried and cooled to manufacture sugar.
