The illustration explains how sugar cane is used to produce sugar.
Overall, the linear process of manufacturing sugar involves 7 major stages, beginning with growing sugar canes and culminating with drying and cooling the end product.
At the start of the process, sugar canes are grown for approximately 12 to 18 months. The following step is to harvest the sugar canes, which can be done both manually and with the use of specialized machines. Once the sugar canes have been collected, they are crushed in order to squeeze out the juice.
During the fourth stage of the process, having collected the juice, it then goes through a limestone filter in order to purify the juice. Then, the heat is applied to purified juice, consequently the excess water evaporates and juice turns into syrup. As soon as the evaporation stage has been completed, received syrup is put into a centrifuge where sugar crystals are separated from the syrup. Finally, the separated sugar crystals are dried and cooled down in a tank which brings the process of manufacture to a close.
