The diagram demonstrates the production process of pencils.
Overall, this process is considered generally man-made and consists of two major phases: tree cultivation and pencil manufacturing.
The process begins with the cultivation of trees. At first, young plants are grown for about four months. After this period, they are transferred to a larger area, where they continue to grow for another three years. At this stage, the trees are selectively thinned, and this allows certain trees to mature over a period of 14 years.
When the trees have reached maturity, they are harvested and cut into thin wooden slats, and then they are treated. The next step involves creating grooves in the slats in terms of putting glue and making them black lead, which serves as the pencil’s core. After that, the second slat is placed over the first, forming a layered structure. This structure is compressed, heated, and cut into individual pencils. Finally, the completed pencils are packaged and prepared for distribution.
