The graphic illustrates the detailed steps of the aluminium cans recycling process.
Overall, it is an 11- stage, man-made, linear process that takes approximately six weeks to complete. It begins with the collection of waste material, finally resulting in production of brand-new cans ready for any commercial use.
To begin with, the used aluminium cans are collected by special vehicles and then transported to recycling factories to be subsequently deposited and prepared for the next steps. Afterwards, they all are cleaned with water and crashed into smaller pieces. Once the waste is subjected to chemicals and heating process, it becomes a raw material that can be used for moulding new aluminium cans.
After getting a flat shape which forms a basis for creating new cans, each sheet is weighted before it is rolled on a special machine which gives the product its characteristic cylindrical appearance. The final outcome is a new can that is ready for storing any sort of beverages.
