In the final year, there was a sharp increase in both countries, England and Germany, with the former showing 35,000 while the latter almost the same.
Italy, on the other hand, bucked the trend. In 1980, the number of people who participated in football matches started at 35,000, a figure that then fell significantly to 30,000 in 1992. After another decrease, the attendance at a football competition in this country stood at just 25,000 in the last year.
