The diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of chocolate. Overall, this is a linear and man-made process, which consists of nine stages. It starts with planting a cocoa tree and ends with molding the chocolate.
At first, cocoa tree is planted in order to obtain ripe red pods from it. Then, these white cocoa beans are harvested before undergoing fermentation procedure in a specific tank for 2-10 days. After that, cocoa beans are placed outdoors to receive sunlight for drying. This is then followed by a stage where beans are roasted in a fire under 120-150°C.
After being roasted by high temperatures, an outer shell of beans is removed, making them ready to go through crushing stage. Subsequently, these beans experience conching process, where inner part of them are pressed, after which tempering operation is carried out to stabilize combined ingredients. Eventually, the chocolate is molded before making it ready for consumption and commercial purposes.
