Overall, Europe accounted for the highest proportion for female and male as well, while Africa accounted for the lowest percentages especially for women.
Europe recorded the highest proportion of people over 50 years old who can read and write at 97.7 for male and 96.2 for female. Secondly came Oceania and America nearly with the same figures, which the first one recorded 92.5 percent and 91.1 percent for male and female respectively, while America recorded 90.8 percent and 88.2 percent for male and female respectively.
Asia recorded 76.6 percent for male with a slight gab with women who recorded 66 percent. On the other hand Africa recorded the lowest percentages, recording a significant difference between men and women, accounting for 61.7 for men and 38.5 for women.
