The diagrams compare two underground roads for cars in two different cities in Australia.
It is evident that there are several differences between these road tunnels, in terms of the cost, time of construction, vehicle capacity and size.
The first tunnel took 12 years to construct, starting from 1986 and cost 555 million dollars. Also, it was built underneath a bridge over a small lake and surrounded by sand. Meanwhile, the second tunnel only needed 4 years from 2002 to 2006 to complete the construction process but costs nearly twice as much as the first one, at 1.1 billion dollars. Additionally, the expensive tunnel was surrounded by stone and clay and above it was a dual carriageway.
The difference of size was reflected by the length of the road and vehicle capacity. In the first tunnel, only 2 cars can fit in while the number in the second one was 3. When it comes to the length and height, the first tunnel was 1.5 meters high and 2.2 kilometers long; and the figures for the second was higher, at 2.5 meters and 3.6 kilometers, respectively.
