The given maps describe how a town called Felixstone developed from 1967 to 2001.
Overall, a comparison of two maps reveals that the town underwent considerable modifications in relation to the range of facilities. Additionally, private beach was constructed at the expense of amenities relating to marine transportation and shop.
In 1967, the town was a mostly commercial area with an array of shops occupying the north and some parts in the east. In the western part of the area dunes could be found along with some types of flowers and a cafe to the east of the hotel. There was a farmland flanked by shops in the west and a golf course neighboured by a set of shops in the east. In addition, there was a fish market, marina and pier in the eastern side of the picture which was surrounded by the sea in the southern part.
By 2001, the town had witnessed significant reformations. Eastern region of the town had a complete shift in many ways: a row of shops were knocked down and replaced with an apartments, farmland was cleared and supplanted by a swimming pool, a hotel and tennis courts. Moreover, the marine transportation and the shop buildings were removed to make room for the private beach in the east. While the hotel was enhanced by the construction of a car park and a cafe was extended southwards and wind turbines was added to make the town more environmentally friendly, the golf course and dunes with flowers remained intact.
