The maps illustrate changes that have occurred in the Sawry District neighborhood since 1920.
Over 100-year period, Sawry District neighborhood experienced significant changes, a huge increase in residential areas and the disappearance of the beach being the most noticeable.
Sawry District, which is located between Elmwood River and Miller’s lake, was surrounded by some woods in the southeast and northwest. However, a century later those woods in the southeast had been changed into a new and larger Prestwich Primary School which was located in the west side of Oak Avenue, precisely where Lonoco Petrol Station located in 2020.
The most significant changes in Sawry District is the demolition of Tulebug Bros. Cannery and got replaced by Yang Office Complex sometime between 1920 and 2020.
In 2020, along Oak Avenue underwent a major increase in new buildings such as apartments, shops, and houses where it doubled from 1920. Across the shops in Oak Avenue the houses were replaced by apartments and while moving more to the north the houses next to the Elmwood River were reduced but still standing complete with a new bridge to cross the river.
