The image depicts the life cycle of a salmon with illustrations and labels from upper river (slow moving) to open sea, each stage has an approximate timeline – upper river stage lasts approx. 3-6 months with reeds, small stones, and salmon eggs elements; lower river (fast flowing) stage lasts approx. 4 years, and open sea stage lasts approx. 5 years. The salmon's growth is represented at three stages: 'fry' measuring 3-5cm, 'smolt' measuring 12-15cm, and 'adult salmon' measuring 70-76cm. Each stage is represented by a number from 1 to 3 correlating to a pictorial symbol of the salmon's growth.
Given the complexity of the image, the above description may not be entirely accurate.

The diagrams illustrate the life course of a big dimension fish, named salmon. This kind of animals spend the first part of its life in river waters, migrating later in the open sea, eventually returning to the rivers to procreate.
In the first part of their life, salmons are little fishes called fry, and they measure only 3 to 8 cm. For approximately 4 years, while growing, they live in lower parts of rivers, moving fast. When they reach the length of 12 to 15 cm, they are called ‘smolt’, and they are ready to move to the open sea, where they can stay for up to 5 years.
An adult salmon can measure from 70 to 76 cm and it’s ready to return to the river, this time in the upper parts, where it moves slowly, in contrast to the fry. Here, the fish make the eggs between small stones under reeds.
