The given figure depicts the life cycle of large Salmon fish species.
Overall, the lifecycle consists of three steps to form adult salmon starting from fry. The whole process involves six important parts. Each lifecycle step is a combination of two steps which sums up to a total of six major parts for the full lifecycle of a large Salmon.
The process of lifecycle starts with upper river (slow moving) which is approximately 5-6 take months has seeds, small stones and salmon eggs. It is followed by lower river (fast moving) which takes around 4 years. This combination produces a fry which is 3 – 5cm long. The second step is a combination of fry with open sea where the fry lives for approximately 5 years after living in lower river for 4 years approximately to finally become a 12 – 15cm long smolt.
The final step in the lifecycle is the transformation into lengthy 70-76cm adult salmon which is completed after living in the open sea for 5 years as a smolt. This lifecycle of large salmon from fry to smolt and then finally to a large salmon is a repetitive process for every other Salmon.
