The image contains illustrations and text labels depicting the life cycle of salmon with three main stages: "fry," "smolt," and "adult salmon." The fry stage shows a diagram of a single fish with size dimensions 3-8 cm, labeled as "upper river" with text "aprox 1 year" accompanied by illustrations of water, weed, fallen tree, and reeds. The smolt stage displays a group of five fish, size indicated as 11-15 cm, with a label "lower river (fast flowing)" and text "aprox 1 year." An arrow points to the adult salmon stage, which exhibits a single fish illustration, size specified as 70-76 cm, with a label "open sea" and text "aprox 4 years." There are two photographs below the smolt stage: one depicting a rocky river with a caption "lower river" with illegible text, and another is a generic open sea image with no text. There are curved arrows between each stage indicating the progression and flow of the life cycle.

The diagrams illustrate the various stages in the life of salmon.
As can be seen from the chart, the complete life cycle lasts around 10 years, and the salmon consists of three main stages to become adult fish, from growing up in the upper river and live in the open sea for four years before a new life cycle begins.
Salmon begin life as eggs in the upper river, where it has a slow water, reeds and small stones. After five to six months the eggs hatch into ” fry”. During this time, the fish measure between three and eight centimetres in length. For approximately the next four years, these baby salmon will live in lower river, where the water flows quickly. Then, these fish grow up from small fish to become “smolt”, which have twelve to fifteen centimetres in size.
After that, “smolt” swims into the open sea and lives there around five years. At this time, adult salmon have a huge size ( seventeen – seventeensix centimetries). They then begin swimming back to their birthplace, where they will lay their eggs, and the cycle starts anew.
