The given diagram illustrates the production processes of ceramic tiles.
Overall, there are eight main steps in the process of making ceramic tiles, starting from acquiring raw materials to the final products being the tiles.
The process starts with creating a moist slurry by combining clay and water in a mixer and grinder machine. The moisture is later removed through two processes. Slurry is first run through a filter press to remove some degree of moisture and then later completely blown dry in a spray dryer to create powder. The resulting product is then pressed into rectangular-shaped blocks by a tile press machine.
After the most premature form of tiles is created, they are transferred into drying chambers, which reach temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius, and left there for 1 to 3 days. The dried powder blocks are then coated with a layer of coating by a glazing machine. To reach their final form, which is tiles, these glazed blocks need to be baked at a temperature between 1000 and 1250 degrees Celsius for 20 to 30 minutes in a kiln.
