The diagram represents the water supply system in Australia with some main features. The water stored in the reservior of dam is released through the dam gates. The released water is first filtered, stored in an overhead tankers and later the filtered pure water is chanelled to households, factories, shops and cities.
The main source for the households, factories, shops and cities is the storage of water in the dam. During the filtering process, a large amount of waste water is produced, which further will be treated in the water treatment plant. The waste water is also found in the dam/storage, which will also be treated in the water treatment plant. This treated water is recycled and can be used for daily chores by the households.
The storm water generated in the cities are released to the river. This storm water is due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season.
