Here is a pictorial representation of the water cycle in Australia. This diagram shows how water flows in the country now and in the future.
The dam serves as the reservoir for clean water to be used in Australia. Pure water from this storage is supplied to households, factories, shops, and the city for various uses.
Industrial effluent and sewage from homes and the city are released as wastewater through a special channel into the water treatment plant. In the plant, the dirty water is purified and recycled back into the dam. This process is repeated, from the dam to the town, shops, and homes then to the treatment plant, and finally to the storage again.
Meanwhile, stormwater due to rain and flooding from homes, companies, shops, and the entire metropolis is directly discharged into the river. Only stormwater is not recycled in the water supply system of the nation.
