The map below illustrates the transformations of Shalton village in 1910 and 2010.
Overall, the village experienced significant change. The most noticeable feature is residential areas take over the natural trees and more public facilities.
In 1910, there was a Post Office located at the North near the intersection of London Road and School Road. the School Road extent from northeast to southeast, there is a butcher, a house, and a school standing beside it. In the south part, there is High Street with 2 houses situated near it. As three of these streets are connected, it forms a triangle with infrastructure such as a large house in the middle of the trees, a vendor, a house, and a bakery stand next to High Street.
Around a century later, only the Post Office and School remained the same, near the office, more houses were built along London Road. The Butcher shop and the house next to School Road were replaced with a parking slot and a bank with a new supermarket. The residential area situated at the South of High Street saw more houses. The grocery store transformed into a Cafe and the rest of the area inside the triangle is removed to make place for more neighborhood.
