The map illustrates the changes of District Park from 2004 to 2014.
Overall, the town saw a number of significant transformations, and the most important of them were the addition and the repurposing of some public areas and sports facilities.
To begin with, District Park experienced a construction of a new cycle path in 2014, bordering the whole park. In the north-west of the map, there was an entrance and to the east part of it, the tennis courts and children’s play area were both significantly widened. Moreover, to the south of the children’s play area, a new zone used for children’s soft play was erected. Meanwhile, a new toilet area was established and a new cafe was built at the expense of the green area in the southeast corner.
Moving to the south-west corner of the park, in 2014, a picnic area was established and the pond located next to it was converted into a boating area. Likewise, to the north of the picnic area, the car park ,which had covered 20 cars in 2004, was expanded to cover 50 cars. However, in the centre of the map, the football play ground still remained unchanged over the period of 10 years.
