The two line graphs indicate the British parents’ expenditure on their children’s sporting activities and figures for British children’s participation in three different sports over the period of six years, from 2008 to 2014.
Overall , we can clearly see that the monthly expenditure of British parents on their children’s sports increased significantly over the six-year period. In terms of the number of children from Britain who take part in football, athletics and swimming, football was by far the most popular among others.
In 2008 , British parents spent an average monthly sum of 20 pounds for the sporting activities which their children engage in.This amount of money had risen moderately in the following six years and reached over 30 pounds in 2014.
Looking at the participation numbers , in 2008 about 8 million British children took part in football while the figures for swimming and athletics are 2 millions and 1 million respectively. Within 2008 and 2014, football remained stable and was still the dominant sports among other activities.On the other hand, the number of British children’s participation in swimming almost doubled to approximately 3 millions . Also similar was the number of children doing athletics which witnessed a five-fold increase from 1 to 5 million participants.
