The first chart illustrates the portion of women and men in a country participated in different types of housework including cooking, clean, pet care and house care. The second chart shows the average time males and female spend in the same chores in minutes. In general, both males and females involved the most in cooking, follow by cleaning and pet care, and the least in house repairs. The same trend is shown in the mean time that people spend on these tasks.
60% of men do cooking while for women, this proportion is 20% higher. Similarly, 20% more women also do cleaning, compares with 40% of men in this country. Adversely, the percentage of man who do pet caring is respectively 2 – 3% upper than female with 20%. Finally, the portion of females involved in house building is 3 times lower than males in the same chore.
By the same token, the average time males do cooking is 60 minutes which is two – third times less than females. The time spend on cleaning of women is approximately 65 minutes, 20 minutes more than men. Inversely, both gender have the same amount of time for pet caring – one-third an hour per day. Housing repairs which account for the least time in a day only take males 18 – 19 minutes to do and with women, this number reduces by fourth.
