The flow chart illustrates the steps involved in the publishment of a book. Overall, it is a process that requires 12 steps, starting with the author working on a manuscript, down to the last step which involes sending the finished work to the printer. Also, there are 2 additional steps not included in these steps, that will be done if it is needed.
As presented, the production will begin when an author starts working on a manuscript. Afterwards, the author will forward the manuscript to a publishing house. Received by the publishing house, the manuscript will be assessed. If on assessment the manuscript does not meet the basic requirements, the author will have to go back, make revisions and corrections. After this, the script ill be sent back for reassessment. On the other hand, if the manuscript is scored and declared perfect, pre-production meetings will be conducted. After the meetings, publishing schedules will be established, and the production team will be assembled to commence work.
Furthermore, the book will be edited and produced in galley stage. The book will then be checked again by an editor and the author. If the book did not meet the requirement, illustrations will be commissioned and the book will be re-edited. However, if it is examined and approved, the first page proofs will be checked by the author and editor. Likewise, the second page proofs will checked afterwards by them. After the final approval, the complete work will be sent to the printer.
