The given bar chart compares various types of transportation use in European city in the years 1960, 1980 and 2000. Overall, the use of car among four modes of transport increased during the given period, while others fell down.
In 1960, the motor car was the least popular way of traveling with about 7% of population use. But it grew steady and strongly for the whole period and finally reached roughly 37% of the users by 2000.
Over the same time, the popularity of walking, which was the most common method of traveling to and from work, with 35% of population in 1960, decreased to roughly 8% in 2000. Bicycle use also fell down from its 27% in 1960 to just 7% at the end.
Bus, on the other hand, jumped in use in 1980 with the percentage of around 27, but then fell down, reaching in 2000 almost the same number of use as in 1960 (23%)
